Robyn Waters has been a professional artist since the 7th grade when she printed up her drawings of the Beatles on her architect father’s blue print machine and sold them for 50 cents a piece to her classmates. She got a job illustrating newspaper ads for a local department store when she graduated from High School. The store had its own in-house advertising department where she learned commercial illustration for $1.65 an hour. She’s worked for multiple advertising agencies, been an advertising art director, painted more than 50 murals, been an art teacher in three states and two countries, sold fine art in galleries and art festivals, and loves to sew and make silly toys for children. Inspired by the birth of her now 12 year old granddaughter, she changed her focus to children’s book illustration and has been entranced with Middle Grade fantasy ever since!
Robyn is very grateful to be a member of SCBWI and is currently the Illustrator Coordinator for Oregon. She is also delighted to live in a Cedar Forrest 17 miles outside of Portland with the love of her life, two tiny dogs and a ferocious cat. Life is mostly excellent!
